Procurement Category Manager -12 Month FTC

 Location: Milton Keynes / Hybrid

Job Description:

Our well-known client is looking to recruit an experienced Procurement Category Manager to join their team.  This role is to start asap for 12 months, working 37hrs a week. This role is fully remote and equipment will be supplied.

The Procurement Category Manager will provide a professional procurement service including, stakeholder engagement, tendering, commercial negotiation and supplier management for IT related systems, services and hardware and general consultancy contracts.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to devise sourcing strategies for IT, STEM equipment, and consultancy procurement projects, offering advice on procurement routes and evaluation methods while addressing commercial and regulatory risks.
  • Oversee tendering activities in adherence to internal and external policies, working with stakeholders to create appropriate documentation and providing guidance on bidder engagement and evaluation.
  • Manage post-tender negotiations, seeking legal advice when necessary, to secure optimal terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Regularly generate post-tender evaluation reports and management information reports to support category and tender planning, as well as savings reports.
  • Review and process purchase requisitions, single source justifications, sourcing requests, and new vendor requests in alignment with university policies and procedures.
  • Proactively address procurement queries and issues, while establishing and maintaining networks and relationships with stakeholders across the university, and undertake specific tasks and projects as assigned by procurement leadership

Key skills and experience:

  • CIPS qualified or commensurate experience
  • Recent experience of procuring IT related hardware, systems and services in the public sector using framework agreements or in accordance with Public Contracts Regulations 2015
  • Excellent communication skills, excellent commercial negotiation skills, ability to network with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Experience of working with staff at all levels to develop project sourcing strategies for key areas of spend.
  • Experience of preparing and drafting tender documentation under official PCR 2015 procurement procedures.
  • Experience or knowledge of public sector procurement and PCR 2015 procurement Regulations.
  • Experience of reviewing, drafting and negotiation of commercial contractual documents.
