Your portfolio is your ticket to new opportunities – it is the first time any employer or client sees what you are capable of when it comes to design and creativity. A great portfolio is a must – so what makes a great design portfolio?
Only include the best. Only select your best work – potential employers and clients don’t want to see work from your college years (unless you recently graduated, of course) so show you most current, best work, to truly reflect what you are capable of.
Be selective on how much to include. The key thing is to leave clients and employers wanting more – start and end on key pieces, but don’t include too much.
Make it online. The whole world is online now – make a responsive portfolio than can be easily accessed anywhere anytime online, with a digital version also available where required.
Tailor your portfolio for each opportunity. One portfolio is not enough – you should tailor what you include before sharing to show how well your previous work relates to the project in question.
Tell your story! Make sure your portfolio reflects your story and showcases work you can talk enthusiastically about in an interview.
