VIDEO EDITING FOR BEGINNERS

Video content continues to engage people all across social media and with the development of technology and growing demand more marketers are now becoming video editors too. If you’re a beginner to video editing, take a look at our top tips below.

What are you trying to achieve? Before you start filming consider the quality of the footage you’re trying to capture and whether or not your software is up to it, and the quality of video content required for the channel you’re planning to use.

Name your files! There is nothing more annoying than trying to sort through numerous badly named files when editing footage together. Before you start, sort through your clips and name them appropriately so you can find them easily later on.

Consider the feel of your video. Think about appropriate transitions and clip length. A very small change can make a huge difference to the feel of your video so try different things.

B-roll matters! When editing together clips, b-roll footage is a great way of smoothing out any edits. B-roll also offers your viewer another perspective and another point of interest alongside the main narrative of your video.
